A not so gentle Reminder Our country has just experienced a sometimes loud and oftentimes intense health care debate. The extreme right tried and sometimes succeeded (with those who want to believe) in scaring the hell out of the US populace. They floated lies like a “Government Death Panel” will rule over your love ones (naming mother and grandmothers) last wish if they become terminally ill. There will be no savings and it will only add to the deficit. Some floated the old tried and true diversionary tactic of… those who have health care will have to pay for those who don’t have it. That sounds like, hold for the drum roll, Welfare. The only thing these stop Obama tactics accomplished was to confuse the populace as to what the program would really do for the each and every one of us. There was one very conservative TV station that seems to be right wing talk radio on steroids. In fact, one of their commentaries, who seem to have fallen out of the twilight zone, began to compare president Obama to Hitler. He pushed the notion that the Obama administration was turning this country into a socialist state, just as Karl Marx did for Russia. This guy is so far out of it; maybe he was kicked out of the twilight zone for being too extreme. Even some Republicans, who have cheered this station and catered to the shows that the station promotes as news reporters are beginning to wonder if the tail is not wagging the dog. Especially now that the health care bill as become the law of the land. If spite of the Republicans, and other conservative organizations efforts, President Obama’s fellow Democrats’ in the House of Representatives and Senath have passed the heath care bill. The President officially signed it into law on Tuesday, March 23, 2010. Before the ink was dry, there were calls to repeal the bill. The Tea Party movement, which some in the media has really overestimated their power to affect any kind of change, have drafted Sarah Palin as their spokeswoman. She, of the any opportunity that pays more than I have in the bank mantra, happily accepts the role as head rogue. Obama care is bad for the country, she screams into the microphone. They want us to shut up and sit down but we won’t will we, she says to an enthusiastic crowd of supporters? We are not people who uses the N word or scoffs at Gays,…we are not the problem here. I didn’t mean anything by putting rifle cross hairs on the map of Democratic Representatives and Senators who I want to lose during this midterm. When I say its’ time to Reload, I don’t mean to imply or incite violence. Palin, who can’t or will not run for president in 2012 unless she thinks the country will elect someone with the IQ of a houseplant, is settling to make herself rich on the backs of the malcontent, misinformed, and others in their movement who in short are racist.
